Venous Interventions:
The Rise of Venous Stenting and Aggressive Deep Vein Thrombosis Treatment

— A Complimentary Webinar from Millennium Research Grou
p

The venous system has recently been gaining exposure as an under-treated area of the human vasculature. New evidence and trends in clinical practice are moving towards increasingly aggressive interventions both for acute and chronic venous disease. A major contributing factor was the 2008 Surgeon General’s Call to Action on deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism, but the rise of arterial stents in the venous system has also played a role.

Millennium Research Group’s (MRG's) new Physician Forum publication investigates the changing dynamics of the venous interventional market with a specific focus on acute DVT treatment, and the treatment of obstructive chronic deep vein disease with venous stents. The publication shows that physicians are becoming increasingly aware of and involved in the venous system, whether they are vascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, or cardiologists. Despite these advances, many challenges remain for both acute and chronic disease, including greater awareness among primary care physicians, better clinical data, and improved devices.

The Physician Forum publication includes coverage of venous stenting, catheter-directed thrombolyisis, mechanical and pharmacomechanical thrombectomy, and imaging techniques to diagnose and treat venous insufficiency and obstructions.

This webinar, presented by MRG Cardiovascular Manager Stephanie LaBelle will answer the following questions:

  • Which patient groups are most likely receiving aggressive DVT treatment, and which underserved groups represent the greatest opportunity?
  • Where are chronic venous disease patients being referred to, and what factors are influencing referral patterns for DVT treatments?
  • What are the future prospects for venous stenting in the treatment of venous insufficiency, post-thrombotic syndrome, and chronic venous obstructions?
  • How do different treatment options compare on factors that are important to effective DVT treatment?
